Low end CAD Station

Hi Guys,

Putting together a spec for a friend of mine, basically not much more apart from browsing and word documents a lot of the time but will need to do a small amount of solidworks so would quite like a low end, probably 2nd hand, enterprise GPU in there.

What can you come up with for around £500? Less if possible!

I ran solidworks fine on a Phenom X 4 955 and a GTX 460..

I used it for uni and found it faultless..

Though if you want a professional GPU i specced a work-mate of mine a secondhand (auction site) Quadro FX4600.. They are about the same price as a secondhand GTX 460..

He raves about his.

You may be able to get a 2500(k)+motherboard+8Gb (16GB) RAM+FX4600 (gtx 460) for that budget .. all secondhand obviously.

Ok thanks, will look into doing that, i was thinking i3 would probably be sufficient though as most of the time he will be doing basic MS word etc.
