Hi guys,

My sound has almost always been supplied by my motherboard (Asus P7P55D-E LX) and Logitech gaming headphones. In all the things PC related, sound is probably the thing I have paid the least attention to. I am fairly clueless.

Having just added a BenQ XL2730Z I've decided I'd like add some speakers for Movies / Music / Gaming / Sky sports etc, so with that in mind I spotted some Harmon K Soundsticks III's for £80 on amazon, so I've taken a punt.

Any advice on a sound card thats suitable for these? I appreciate that in the grand scheme of things, they are low end, what I want is a card that will make the most of them.

Any thoughts? I was thinking £50-£100 but I'm flexible, anyone been in a similar situation? What did you get and would you recommend it?

Cheers,
Mike

That's a good price. For the usual £100 that they sell for, they are easily the best 2.1 speakers up to £100; very good speakers indeed. Aego M and SP2500 are better, but you'd be paying twice as much.

Soundblaster Z and Xonar DX are both very good internal cards. If you'd prefer an external one, then Xonar U7 is also very good.
