hey all,
Got round to buying new case, fans, fan controller and hsf the other week and while the performance is great, can't help feel i'm not getting the most out of it.
The Fan controller is the Zalman ZM-MFC1 Plus and i've plugged 5 yate loons and a 1600rpm Scythe S-FLEX into it while the s-flex is sitting on the Heat sink. The S-flex is the only one i've got monitored thanks to a handy Y cable.
Problem is in bios and the Nvidia monitor software it shows fan speed as ~1360rpm. The PSU is a tagan 530w job and is powering the fan controller and the dvd drive on the same cable (its got two 4 pin molexs). I tried unplugging the dvd drive and the fan speed went up a whopping ~40rpm but is still 200rpm short. Is the PSU struggling? or is it something to do with amps.
Cheers
edit: When ever i turn my pc on a fan makes a loudish sound like its scraping against something, which eventually goes back to normal (and makes a slight burning smell :S ) this happened before i replaced the case as well. Could either be the PSU, the graphics card (highly doubt it) or the mobo chip fan (dreaded loud a8n-e). Is this related?
