Hey all, Been noticing i'm getting about 90FPS in COD4 But my friend is saying he gets about 150 average with the same card as me. Also the rest of my spec is better than his.

Any ways i can increase my FPS some how? (Spec in sig)
Thanks.

What resolution are you each playing at and what in-game settings are you each using?

But TBH, do you really want more FPS? 90 (nevermind 150) is more than you need and you will likely get a better experience if you increase the settings like AA and shadow/texture quality.

The rest of your spec is better, so presumably your monitor is bigger too?

With the onboard graphics on my 2 year old laptop, I could get a higher framerate on almost any game than you... if I play on 640x480 on low and you're playing 2560×1600 on maximum...

Your monitor almost certainly has a 60Hz refresh rate, so anything above 60fps is wasted anyway, and even it it's 100Hz the difference won't be noticeable.

You've got a resolution well above playable, I don't see what the problem is other than for competition with your friend.

I'm playing at 1440x900 and so is he.

I'm not trying to compete with him, i'm just intrigued as to why mine is so much lower.

When i look at FPS while im playing it seems to be locked to 91 as it never rises above that, just flickers between 90 and 91 and drops every now and then to around 50-60.

Looking at this review of the 9800GT - (test system uses a Q9450) using these settings:
Video Settings:

Anti-Aliasing: x4
Anisotropic Filtering: Max
Texture Quality: Extra
All settings Max

A 9800GT runs COD4 at 94FPS at 1280x1024 and 75FPS at 1680x1050 - your resolyution is in the middle of these - as are the framerates you are getting.

With this in mind your friend running at 150FPS must be running the game at some low settings or he is exaggerating his performance.
