Low FPS in CS:Source

Just wondering what it could be, I should be getting more than 40FPS with this spec right? It's unplayable at close range at times dropping to like 10FPS.

P4 3.0Ghz
7600gt
2Gb DDR2 RAM

What could it be?

Your cpu. Source is CPU demanding, and a P4 3ghz isnt that good anymore.

seems wrong to me, i have tha cpu but with a 7900gs an i get 90-100 fps, drivers maybe?

turn v sync off, and aa/af

I have an AMD xp3000+, 1Gig of ram and a 5600xt and i run it at full everything, windowed at 800x600.

So its probably a driver issue.

CPU is more than enough for 40fps at full settings.

My 7600gt, 1gb of ram and an athlon64 3000+ ran it at 1280x1024 with full settings and full AA/AF with HDR and V-Sync turned on. It reached 65-70 on non-hdr maps like office and around 35-40fps on hdr maps like militia.

Something else is going on there mate.

Get a cheap duel core and all your problems will be solved. You can get them for under £40 now.

Either that or drop your res and play everything on low. You dont need high graphics settings on this game to enjoy. I drop mine to low on this game despite my computer being able to handle it all on max settings at over 150 fps on the worse maps.
