low fps in HL2:Episode 2

Hi guys, in the first level on episode 2 I am hitting 42fps which is pretty low.

Graphics settings in hl2 are:

1680x1050 res
model detail: high*
texture detail: high*
shader detail: high*
water detail: reflect all*
colour correction: enabled*
antialiasing mode: 2xMSAA
filter mode: 2xanisotropic
wait for vertacle sync: disabled*
High dynamic range: None
Motion blur: enabled*

System spec is in sig, cpu is overclocked to 2.4ghz (small overclock).

Nvidia driver 169.25
OS: Vista 64bit

I have tried lower res, lower grahpics settings but the fps gain is so small it's not worth it. I have no idea what is causing this.

fps bug in source baste games.

When you start the game go into your windows task manager and end the GameOverlayUI process. This de-activates in game steam friends but stopped random fps drops on my high spec system. it helps to some people

god this sucks, just uninstalled the drivers and used driver cleaner and reinstalled still get crappy fps.

So nobody got this problem at all with a similar set-up?
