Hello, Been trying to improve the performance of my G2 for Iracing. Pretty much on low settings in Iracing, FPS keep dropping resulting in a stuttery experience. Using RTX 3070 Graphics card with 8 GB. Am I missing something or would adding more RAM do the trick. Appreciate any advice, I'm pretty much a Dummy with this stuff.

On the iracing forums check out the VR optimisation guide.

You don't say what your CPU spec is. I use a quest2 + 5600x + 3070FE and am getting 120 frames per second - full resolution (for Q2) and graphics settings on pretty much max with just the virtual mirror (read the guide - mirrors are a FPS killer in VR). This is on Okayama this week with the Vee - sure you know what I mean there.

Also beware on iracing some tracks are know to be poor in VR - which track are you getting the problems with?

B450 AORUS ELITE V2 Thanks for the to the optimisation guide.

What CPU do you have in the motherboard?

I think I found your user on iracing and you are have been running on Hockenheim - that track has a bad rep on the VR forum for performance in iracing. I would follow the optimisation guide and see what kind of performance you get on a known good performance track (like Okayama) and then be prepared to drop the settings down for troublesome tracks.

As above - what's your CPU?

iRacing renderer is single threaded. You'll likely run out of CPU performance in VR with higher detail settings before the graphics card becomes a factor. Nvidia SPS technology helps remove some of that overhead.

Slowly working my way through the optimisation guide and already seeing marked improvement. Raced at Hochenheim tonight maintained 90 fps throughout, the only thing that didn't perform was me. I think the biggest improvement came from changing SPS setting. Thank you everyone for the help, much appreciated.

My 3800X/1080 Ti combo was able to run my G1 headset at 90fps in iRacing with settings that looked pretty good. (Wasn't able to max out setting though) I don't recall it using a lot of vram either, so I would expect your CPU/GPU combo to work well (better) with some optimization.

Very similar to my set up, the performance has definitely improved, I’ve been tinkering for weeks without success, the guide has made all the difference. For how long though, as the development of iracing continues.

Consider coming at this from another angle. Turn down everything to potato, verify it runs smoothly, and then start bumping settings individually to get an idea of the visual improvement vs performance cost.
