low fps with AoC (age of conan online) using DX 10?

Im on the beach (just after u make your char) and the fps is sitting around 30:/
Settings are set to High with x2 AA.
is that low for my specs? (see sig)

On dx 9 i get around 70-80 fps on the beach. Altho i DO get a warning comeing up saying i dont have the latest drivers for my gpu (which i do and just checked again) .. strange :/

when i played this game i think i had a GTX 285 or a 4870 cant remember now.

Anyway i remember the game being extremely hard to run and i had to sit there for a while adjusting video settings etc.

Try to lower your:

View Distances
Shadows

And the settings for the water cant remember what setting,the game should run better.

i have a weird feeling there is just something wrong with my computer -_- last few days ive played 3-4 games and ALL of them have had juddering... (lord of the rings online, AOC, Witcher, Risen) You move so far and then it stutters/judders. >< Maybe its the hard drive -_-

Thanks for your help im running a defrag sto try and help it out a bit but then ill try them settings

A few things you can try i had stuttering when i had a single 5870 and xfire but many ppl have no issues at all.

Try to disable vsync and triple buffering in the games options.

Then install rivatuner and use D3D Overrider,select the square at the bottom left and find the exe. of the games and add them.

Then force vsync and triple buffering but make they are both disabled in the games options you are having problems with.

Ive found this has worked and stopped the stuttering in several games no idea why.

Also your Ram could be the culprit try to run some tests download "Memtest" and run the Windows Diagnostics memory test.

You can also check your HDD for errors by downloading "HD Tune"

And the most obvious, but im sure you have checked is temperatures of the video card and your CPU

DX10 is still in test mode. Doesn't look any different than DX9 anyway.

YEAH!!! :/ i just took two screenshots and there is NO diffrence. Ive seen screenshots online that make the underwater look a lot better but in the test ive just done..nothing lol (apart from shadows but thats more i hadnt put the cam in same postion on the dx 9 test)

Nope no errors on memory

(ill run a full one later) along with a HD one. My gpu temps get upto 50-60 and cpu is around 54c Well in safe range

Lol with shadows on max my fps allways dropped below 45 even tho i had a pc that was 10x stronger than Suggested spec! Wonder why shadows lower fps so much on online games :/ itw as same for LOrdo, champions online + parts of aion.

The DX 10 Client is known for not being as optimised as it prhaps should be. Also it is a Nvidia TWIWMTBP title and ATi are known to underperform in AoC.

Best tip i can give for smoothing out on your setup is to max all your view distance sliders and high quality distance sliders. Sounds strange but the way the game engine calls textures an LoD models has a massive hit on performance. On your hardware maxing them out should actually improve performance.

Yea same here, I just had the slider forward once so it only shows the player shadows, but in WoW they are buggy as hell

.. is so anoying that ATI and Nvidia both have games that work better for there own cards.. -_- Pc is getting like consoles (ps3/xbox360 even going so far theire brining out crap games)

It failed. so BAD! I bought it when it first came out.. i only played it once and gave up lol (no joke) It was awful. I played it recently over at my friends and it seemed a lot better. Most of the bugs were ironed out.
