Hey all,

I have by no means a terrible system, it's not the greatest, but I should easily be getting 30+ fps in World of Warcraft, and yet, for some reason I seem to be averaging around 6. :/

I installed the latest drivers and I seem to have around 16-20 in Outland (Shadowmoon Valley to be precise) but this seems rather low. :/

My specs are:

E2200 @ stock (yeah, I know, sucks, but it won't overclock)
4gb DDR2 RAM
8800GTX
Vista-64

As I said, by no means spectacular, but surely I should be getting at least 30-40 at 1920x1200?

Try an older driver? What about other drivers? Run wow repair?

Should definitely be getting more fps. I have same specs as you apart from Q6600 cpu. I get 40-50 in main cities, 100+ everywhere else, with max settings, 1680x1050 though.

I was using a somewhat old version before, as I needed to go back for Age of Conan when I played that. I guess I could try a set of drivers in between them and the new ones.

somethings not right there, have you tried downloading the latest drivers, uninstalling the old drivers, running driver sweeper and installing the new drivers, also knock shadows down 1 notch from top setting.
i used to play on a 1920x1200 at 1680x1050 windowed max settings with 4xAA and max af. min fps was around 20 in Dalaran.
Im on Vista 64 also.

Yeah, I uninstalled, DriverCleaned, and then install the new ones. A small improvement was noticed.

I just knocked down the shadows a notch, and it seems to have helped a little, but I'm still getting under 30. I'll point out that I'm Windowed mode, but when I go to fullscreen, it might improve it by a single fps.

to be fair a lot of the fps problems in wow is due to the server your playing on. not sure why but lt of mates said they saw increase soon as they moved servers :/

You should be able to play with your settings on high, how are your graphics settings ?

Try using maximized windowed mode ? V-sync on.
No special lighting effects or anything.

Knock the shadows slider all the way to the left. The new shadow system can bring even a meaty system to its knees.

I tried turning down the shadows, one notch gives a few fps, knocking it all the way down doesn't really do much. I've tried turning down all the settings, playing it in FullScreen mode doesn't work either. It's really quite annoying. :/

I arrived in Howling Fjord, and I arrived with 1.7 frames a second, and then flying to Kamagua had an average of about 6. :/

Well, today I found that when I used Skype, my framerate dropped to about 9-13. So it seems like that's the culprit, although it's not CPU usage as that remains low.

I run Skype and wow on a system of a lesser spec than yours (AMD 64 3400, 2gb DDR, 512mb 7600GT) and wow runs fine, only really see a drop in frames in big cities etc, but still very very playable.

8800 Drivers are always dodgy. I installed the newest ones for my card and sent Source games a bit crazy.

Just roll back to an older set and you should be fine (I think).

I shall try using an older set, although I was actually using an older set when I was first experiencing the problems.

Any suspicious items in your process list?

Not that I can see, no. :/

Hmm, maybe there's something else going on then..

After downloading the patch last Wednesday I was able to raid as normal that night. The next day WoW installed a hotfix and applied it to my game before I logged in.

When I loaded the game I noticed my FPS was extremly low (Again, my PC is far from poor!) and I "knew" something was not right. 20mins later I get summoned for Naxxramas and everything seems OK at best, at one point we wiped and I released... Right there and then my game crashed completly forcing me to ctrl/alt/del to see a pop up box with no text on it only to just click it thus closing my game.

I reloaded, and appeared in Venomspite as a ghost, I accepted res and mounted to fly back to Naxx, 2/3seconds as I lift off on my mount, same error! After that each time I tried to get on my Character it would just crash every time.

I tried logging my Rogue in Orgrimmar and same thing. So I tried my priest as it was in Outland in Hellfire thinking thats a different server/mapping etc and it might work. It did.

At this point I thought rather than uninstal/replace drivers to just fully format and start clean as I can't be crashing during raids or having any problems.

Everything seemed OK after that for 2 days, 2 times over the last few days WoW has crashed as I tried to enter Naxxramas, each time I went back into the game I had no problem.

It is REALLY strange, to say I had a conflict is one thing but to fully format and have the same "odd" crash happen is weird.

Sorry for the long post

edit: since I formatted I haven't had FPS issues or anything else, just the 2/3 random crash as I enter Naxx.

i had a problem with crashing when logging in/entering instances turned out i had a mod 'quest helper' was the problem took a reinstall of the whole game to fix it check you mods
