Hi i reciently just built a new pc with a i7 920 on the mobo EX58-UD3R and when i run cpu-z its showing my core speed as 1598.2 Mhz, that seems really low and im pretty sure its ment to be 2.6ghz can anyone please help me!

Thanks!

Its prob intel speedstep, when your PC doesnt need to be running at full power it clocks itself lower to save energy basically
Whilst OCing people tend to turn it off, so they can see whats going on, but for genereal use its best to leave on. Can be turned off in bios, alternatively just run a stress test then check the speed, it should go back up to default whilst under load

Have cpuz open then, open a couple of programs, you will see the speed of the cpu rise when doing this in cpuz :)

If you want to stress your cpu, give prime95 a whirl.
