Low GPU Mhz 5850?

Hi all,

Just got my 5850 and when you go into overdrive in current values it says my card is running (see photo below)

GPU clock 157Mhz and Memory Clock 300Mhz.

This seems wrong? Shouldnt it be 765Mhz and 1125Mhz?

ati powerplay steps down clocks to save power...as soon as the GPU power is needed they will ramp back up again

same idea as intel speedstep and amd cool & quiet

Your card is running in 2d mode which down clocks the core and memory speeds to save power. If you run a game or 3d application your clock speeds will then clock up to the values you were expecting to see.

If you plan to overclock then potentially yes, there are other tools to overclock however.
Otherwise you won't need to activate it, manual fan control might be another reason why you would want to enable.

don't bother to OC gpu if everytni' is flying,..
use RivaTuner to OC
