Low-level buzzing/hissing on A8N-SLI Deluxe

Hi,

I've been noticing that at low levels I can hear pops and clicks on my onboard sound (AC97-based). I've tried various drivers and muting anything that could be causing feedback such as Aux, Mic, Line-In and PC-Speaker. It seems to make different noises depending on whether hard disks are being accessed, the mouse is being moved which makes me think this is some sort of EM interference issue. Any ideas as its just noisy enough to be annoying and I'd rather not have to shell out on a separate soundcard.

Same on mine. I've just attributed it to having the onboard sound. I've always needed a soundcard, but I've not had the cash to buy one of late.

hmmmmmmmmmmm

I get this also even with a soundblaster 5.1. Any recorded audio sounds terrible with loads of background noise. Any fixes?

i had same problem with my 680i board so i bought a sound card and problem solved. :rolleyes:

OK then, any recommendations for a sound card- the only provisos being:

<=£50 price

Linux support (which means no X-Fi's!)

surround sound desirable but not required as I will be using headphones mainly

Nevermind- just ordered a cheapo Audigy 2 off the bay

Now to track down one of those funky break-out boxes!
