2 and half years ago I came here and asked for help and got plenty of it, very happy with the service provided by both members and OcUK - so i've come back for more help.

The system I bought back then would be perfect again, however I'm working to a reduced budget (I sold my old system, now have a laptop).

I'm primarily going to be using it for Photoshop/Lightroom as well as occasionaly running a couple of VMs as well as general home use by the family. Ideally it would run quite quietly, but appreciate for the budget i'm not expecting miracles. If the case could have a CompactFlash reader that would also be ideal.

I'm starting from scratch again so will need a full system including OS and 22"+ monitor.

I'm open to suggestions as alway!

Thanks for that spec, Its unlikely that I will be doing much gaming on it! I've got a 1 year old, and free time is at a minimum!!!

You wouldn't be able to game on my specs due to no graphics card.

However i would reccomend spending about £50 on a nvidia graphics card for cuda in photoshop.
 
I can lose the OS and the DVD drive - I can probably obtain these through work/friends.

Would that extra £100 add much to the party?

Would the cheaper AMD be a better route to go down?
