hey all.... just wondering if anyone else has been getting poor performance in this game???
i7 920@4GHz
6GB ddr3 1600Mhz
ati 7970 @1050,1425Mhz
etc etcc...

so yea.... been getting rubbish performance in this game now, usually 25-50fps mark where as my mates running with lower graphics cards are getting much higher, when i get 30 they get like 80, if i get 60 they get like 120.

now my GPU load is only 30-50% whilst playing... is it just terrible coding of the game or?

i've tried various options to try and fix stuff but nothing has helped. seems like others have some issues on the WoT forums... so just wondering if you guys here are getting issues and if you know of any fixes??

Nice one Fred, have a look through 30 pages of other stuff in the hope you'll find something useful ;)

The fact is the game runs on a poorly optimised engine that only makes use of a single core.

There is little you can do except turn the GFX down, but you'll find that makes little difference.

I have an i7 @ 4gb, 12GB DDR3 RAM, 2xGTX560Ti and I get between 25 and 60 fps depending on the map. Its using about 14% CPU and about 40% GPU (one card - not SLI) and that's it.

Seems they are more interested in adding more premium tanks than sorting out the basic engine... Does not bode well for World of Warplanes.

Good game though...

What's your internet connection like? I played this for a bit and found that ping can really impact framerate.

Of course, fixing the matchmaker would also be nice. They do know that if they put my T2 TD in with T5 and T6 tanks i'm going to be little more than a paperweight right?

But... T2 can't end up against T6, not even sure they can end up against T5 for that matter.

T4 tanks on the other hand get screwed over left right and centre.

I never had particularly good framerate before I got my new pc (but now I run at max settings for whats worth and its only a bit better) but 20-50fps should be more than playable. If you're desperate just change it to mid settings (low is absolute dire and painful to play on). The main issue I used to have was when in sniper mode, sometimes fire effects or the smoke would cripple my fps which made it really hard to shoot accurately.

i'll take a gander at that now fred :)

Lt_red... that's all ive read from the wot forums... but it's not a justifiable solution after spending soooo much money on a poc to run everything maxed out... then have to run it on low... kinda defeats the object... may as well be playing it on my x60 thinkpad from 2006 ;) tho that really is scraping the barrel :p

this is just really frustrating as my friends have similar systems but yet get much more fps :( even some with lower specs get better bloody fps!!! :(

yea i tried an affinity fix to let world of tanks use more than one core... now goes up to about 30% cpu usage max... no increase.

tute, my internet is pretty stable, 20mb virgin media, always get 19.0+ on speed tests, ping to speedtest is sub 20ms. and always below 100ms in WoT and usually sub 40ms... so the connection is fine :\ yea the match making is **** :p

turn off effects in sniper mode? funny enough my fps usually goes up in sniper mode xD

i'm heading towards the maus as my main :) on the vk4502A atm, grinding the ausf.B is going to be a right female dog.

Well judging by the trend of penetration values lately you may regret that. They're starting to get so high (on gold ammo) that armour is becoming useless which screws over the Germans considerably.

Tbh I'd just settle with slightly lower settings. Its not as if the game is much improved by higher settings anyway. Its just the lowest possible settings which look truly horrendous.

For what its worth i run:

i7 2600K @ 4.7
8GB DDR3 1600
Ati 6950 unlocked to 6970 and overclocked a fair bit

1920 x 1200, 4X AA, pretty much everything on high except enhanced shadows and sniper mode effects set to medium. I tend to get 50 - 70 fps most of the time. Does drop to 40 sometimes.

Have you de-fraged your game folder, lots of people playing arma2 start getting low f/rates if they haven’t defraged for a while..

.

just checked the defrag state.. was 2% :p so defragging anyways... might have to move it onto my SSD for the sake of trying xD

Sometimes things just happen with certain games..

Annoying tho, as your system should run anything at max, with very good frame rates..

If my new intel doesn’t run Arma 3 at max with good frame rates.. well lets just say there will be tears..:(, as my old AMD does run max with great fps on Arma2..

arma 2 on max? with good fps? guessing ya didnt have the draw distance whacked up to 10km on chernarus ;) things a crippler with all those bloody trees xD

Have you not played it with the recent changes (1.60 patch plus ongoing Beta’s) the improvement is vast.
No, not 10000 on the ground but easily in the air, but a reasonable 3000 on the ground now with heavy terrain and lots going on.

Plays like a different game, patch 1.61 will be a turning point for BIS I feel.. wait, hope..

I want them to learn for Arma 3 release..

Fxaa built into A2 now with smaa, but the fxaa makes a massive difference when tweaked right in your game configs, allows for low aa ingame but the appearance of very high aa...
Nice for your frame rates..:D
