Low power and silent PSU

Please can someone recommend a low power PSU (~500w?) which is silent or near silent in operation, is modular and cheap!?

Silent and modular can do, cheap....not so easy, its not worth skimping on your PSU
This Zalman would be best

500W isn't low power PSU.
(when even many PCs used for gaming reach just above 200W peak draw)

Seasonic M12II and Enermax Modu82 series have models in that ~400+ W class.

is there much difference in performance between 4830 and 4850?

seems i can get 30 for £82 and the 50 for £120 so quite a difference in price

For that price I'd get a 4830, but it depends on what you expect to use it for.

The Tagan 520 or similar is awesome also, been using mine for 20 months now and it's powering a GTX 280 and 5 HDDS with a overclocked CPU with no problems. (Touch wood?

4gb ram
2 1TB HDD
1 cd/dvd rom
ATi 4850 or 9800gtx
thats it.... but need room for HDD expansion.

no it won't. they are terrible psu's. have a read of this review of the 700w version.

Have a look around for one of the excellent Enermax Modu/Pro 82+ psu's. Obviously the Modu is modular and the Pro is'nt. Fantastic psu's, quiet and very efficient and come in 425/525/625w for the Modular and 385/425/525/625w for the Pro.
