Low power components

Hi Guys,

I am using my old gaming rig as a server now (Q6600, Abit IP35 Pro) and I'm looking to change some of the components to make it use a bit less power. The PSU is a Corsair 650W one so that's a bit of a beast for a start.

It has a Nvidia 9800 GTX graphics card in it and I no longer use the machine for games so want to change this for something cheap, cheerful and low power - any suggestions?

Cheers

Alex

Power supplies will only use what's needed if you want to save energy you need to look at efficiency not the wattage rating, 80Plus Platinum & Titanium are the most efficient but less popular than 80Plus Gold power supplies.

As for GPU this is the most basic:

EDIT: I may be wrong actually:
Supplies are typically most efficient at between half and three quarters load, much less efficient at low load, and somewhat less efficient at maximum load.

It's hard to say then without knowing specific numbers.
