I'm looking to use an existing case (coolermaster Praetorian) to turn into a basic email/browser/kids games system. Or I might turn it into a headless home server.

As it will probably be left running for days at a time, and will be in a small room I want to pick the coolest quietest, most economic config I can find.

The existing innards are based on an ASUS A8V Athlon 3800, and Nvidia 6600gt, but they are just too hot and noisy.

I'd like some form of 3D graphics, but dont need high performance, so would be happy if motherboard graphics fit the bill.

So I think I need a recomendation for:

- Power Supply
- CPU
- mobo with or without on board graphics
- memory if i cant use my old stuff
- quiet 500gb hd

I dont need any fancy features, so cheap is better than having extra functionality.

yes, but tbh you should really be running 4 gig of RAM with vista 64 bit, that must be crippling your system running 2 gig, and its not much more to replace your old stuff versus purchase an extra 2x1gig, your call though, yeah you can use it, or even keep hld of it and run 6 if you wanted
