Hey Guys
I'm in need of peoples opinions and experience on low power SFF based systems.
I currently have a home-built file server that's designed using an old embedded mobo I picked up from somewhere years ago: specs
It's got a Pentium M 1.6ghz single-core cpu, 1gb RAM, a cheap pci-raid card and 2x 1tb WD green HDD's in raid1. All of this is connected to a 120watt DC-DC mini-itx style PSU.
According to an energy monitor, this box consumes around 22watts when idle and 27watts while doing something (extracting archives, transcoding etc). It's also very quiet and doesnt kick out much heat.
Unfortunately it's really starting to struggle with transcoding videos and running a VMWare virtual machine. So i'm looking at new ideas for a more powerful low-power solution.
List of wants/would likes:
1) small form factor
2) gigabit ethernet that supports wake on lan
3) integrated raid
4) dual core or quad core
5) similar idle and load power consumption to my current box? (may be harder if going for dual or quads)
Any help would be appreciated![Smile :) :)](/styles/default/xenforo/vbSmilies/Normal/smile.gif)
