Do these exist? I'll be getting a 4K HDR TV soon so I'll need to upgrade my HTPC.

Specs:
A6-5400K
Gigabyte F2A85XM-D3H
Silverstone ML03B case

Am I right in thinking the card will need to be HDMI 2.0 to do 4K?

Are there any FM2 processors that could run 4K?

Thanks!

Will need to be HDMI 2.0 for 4K @ 60Hz, otherwise you'll only get 30Hz.

I'm sure someone will be along shortly to help you with the rest.

Galax make a low profile GTX 950, but it's only available in Japan. The model reference is GF PGTX950-OC-LP/2GD5 ZERO. In terms of stuff more readily available, the 750 Ti is still the newest card to have a low profile variant, and that's only HDMI 1.4. There haven't been any low profile RX 460s to date. It's possible the 1050 Ti may get one at some point I suppose.

Or maybe upgrade the motherboard/CPU then no need for a new GPU (although if you PC game on it maybe not).

The Asrock Fata1ty Gaming ITX's onboard gpu will output 4K/60Hz - pricey though.

Thanks for the replies! I'm guessing 4K@30hz is a no go? I was looking at the 750ti but at £100 I was thinking maybe a CPU would be enough? Are the new AMD APU's FM2?

I don't game on it, and the machine was pretty cheap so I don't want to throw money at it :p

No, they'll be on a new socket, AM4.

You'd still be limited to 30 hz though over hdmi.

Does your board have display port? Could use an adapter.

I thought the 750Ti does 60hz via HDMI 2.0?

edit: Just had a look, apparently it's HDMI 1.4. It only does 4K @ 60hz via Displayport :(

From the specs of my board, I'm limited to:

1 x D-Sub port
1 x DVI-D port, supporting a maximum resolution of 2560x1600
* Support for 2560x1600 resolution requires both a monitor and cable that support Dual Link DVI.
* The DVI-D port does not support D-Sub connection by adapter.
1 x HDMI port, supporting a maximum resolution of 1920x1200

Be aware that if you want to output 4K HDR @ 60Hz you need DisplayPort 1.4 or HDMI 2.0b which only the latest AMD / Nvidia ranges have.

So you are looking at RX 460 or GTX 1050 but I don't think and low profile versions have been released yet.

Might want to wait and see what the GTX 1050 is like. Although it may not get below £100 since the 1060 is well above that.

The 1050 is supposedly coming in a few days (i.e. by end of October).

Quadro K600 does it 50ish quid or its bigger bro k620 for 80ish. Dedicated hardware decoders shouldnt have any prob with video output will need a display port converter to hdmi though

Edit... Not sure on hdr think its a new gen for both. Carnt have it all i suppose
