Hi Everyone

I'm making the move to Mini ITX and I'm still looking to be able to game on my machine.

I'll be keeping my old components; i7 2600k, 8GB Corsair XMS3, Intel SSD.

But I've been trying to find a gaming GPU that is low profile, does anyone know a GPU that'll still give me excellent game play - I'm looking for something that produces the least heat and fan noise - Either Nvidia or AMD would be fine.

Thanks

I see no reason why it wouldn't. Maybe overclocks will be tougher because of the smaller PCB and heat but the 670 is fast enough without needing to OC.

The lowest profile card is normally 5570, 6570 or similar. Don't think they make low profile cards any higher. Both would offer better performance than the HD3k...but still not gaming grade.

If you can have full height then you can get yourself something similar to what Greg posted, providing you're not using a tiny tiny PSU normally found in MiniITX builds.

Well this was the case I was going to go for, I've currently got a Be Quiet Dark Power Pro 850w PSU but I don't think it'll fit in there.

The best low profile card widely available is the AMD Radeon HD7750. The Sapphire one in particular has got very low power draw, if you do not overclock it, and has got great reviews.

May be enough depending on gaming resolution, settings etc.

When you said 'low profile' i assumed like others you meant a low profile bracket

If I were you I'd just make sure to get a blower card for that case.

The issue with low profile cards is power, heat and space.

You can get a 7850 LP but it will take up two low profile slots, extend over the ITX board and requires a 6 pin connector and a power supply appropriate for a 130w graphics card.

The best LP card suitable for being in a really small case is the 7750 which is 55w, requires no extra connectors and doesn't overhang the ITX board. It's also single slot.

I'm currently using a 86w 6750 (aka a rebadged 5750) and a 65w i3 2130.

I could cut the TDP by 51w by changing to a 55w 7750 and a 45w i3 3240 and slightly improving performance at the same time.

Might even be able to run that on a 150W pico instead of the 220W TFX power supply I use.
