Low quality system tray icons?

Just got a new work laptop, pretty high spec (Centrino Duo 2Ghz 2 GB RAM), but I've noticed the icons in the system tray and taskbar are very low quality compared to my old desktop. Any ideas why this is?

I take it its the same software and icons as your desktop is running.... so have you checked that your running 32bit colour quality in your graphics driver options, maybe check your resolution aswell.

Yeah it's all of the same applications that I was running on my desktop. The colour quality is currently set to the highest (32 bit) and the resolution is set to the maximum (1680 by 1050). The monitor is widescreen running on a NVIDIA Quadro FX 350M. All icons on the start menu and crisp and clear.

this just happend to me i just ctrl>>alt>>del ended the explorer process then started it again seemed to fix it!

Try changing your start menu to classic style and then back to xp standard again. Also make sure the fonts are defaults.

i had this prob wen running a trail of windows blinds it did it every other boot...i bet if they are low quality...just restart the system and they are back to norm. i just reverted to windows blind 4.5 and its all sorted.

can i also ask does is the day written under the time also? if so its the same as the prob i had.

your sizes are screwed somewhere..

right click desktop, properties, appearance, advanced

click the X in corner, so it says "caption buttons" and reduce the size, i think they vary with each theme

19 is the default of my current theme, i think it may be 18 for most...

do that, then log off and log back on, should fix it
