hi

ive just moved house am on pipex max with what they said was a 4.5MBIT adsl connection, however the line keeps dropping out.

i am thinking this is down to the low snr margin.

Downstream Upstream
SNR Margin (dB): 3.6 23.0
Attenuation (dB): 28.0 24.0
Output Power (dBm): 11.9 19.2
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 4448 1052
Rate (Kbps) 4416 448
K 139 15
R 0 0
S 1 1
D 1 1

anyone know if snr of 3.6 downstream is too low?

thanks.

It's low, but isn't necessarily too low. Depends how much it fluctuates - when it drops out, what does it connect at?

It connects at the right speed:

Line Rate - Downstream (Kbps): 4288

Everytime it connects at the above rate...sometimes the SNR goes down to 3.2 and its currently at 4.0db and hasnt disconected for some hours after I changed the filter for another...sometimes webpages 'stick' and it doesnt load the whole page for a second or two when it was instant.

Would it be worthwhile fitting an NTE5 faceplate to the socket after reading about this problem on the Internet?

Thanks,

I cant really be fiddling with the socket as this is a rented house, Im not sure if Im even allowed to do that.

Would it be best to call out a BT engineer to sort it?

I fitted one in my house and it didn't make a blind bit of difference when I was on MAX... now i'm on a fixed 2MB connection and it's rock solid, I much prefer it. :)
