My friend just bought a laptop, and I have persuaded him to start a bit of gaming. The laptop is ok, but not great. He has an i5 CPU (he doesn't know what i5 model...) and 4/8GBs of RAM. He doesn't have a graphics card, except an integrated one. I know this is not good for gaming, but he never was interested in PC games, until I made him (after he got the laptop).

I lent him my STEAM account as he wanted to play Portal/Half Life etc. and all worked fine. Now we want to play some multiplayer games together, but we do not know what to play!

Since Portal worked well for him, I was thinking maybe we can find some low-spec fun games. I gave him a few names:

- Left 4 Dead 1/2
- Counter Strike: GO
- World of Tanks
- Team Fortress 2
- Gotham City Impostors

We prefer different styles. I prefer FPS games (Battlefield, Crysis etc.) and the occasional racing(NFS) and sim (FM) game. He likes single player games (inFamous, Batman etc.) but also 'non-serious' multiplayer games (Uncharted). He also likes 'fun' games like The Sly Collection (Yes, all PS3 games, as that is all he played until now)

Can anyone suggest some games that are along the lines of what I mentioned please. Co-Op games would be preferred (L4D style).

From my list, he liked L4D and Gotham City (actually, he suggested this). No LoL please :)

I have it on the 360. It's really fun for what it is, a casual game to hump on now and again.

Try Killing Floor? Shouldn't be too harsh on the graphics if you lower the eye-candy, it runs off the UT2004 engine.

You might just have missed it on Steam sale at the moment, but it'll be back on at Christmas.

Yeah, I have KF, and I told him bout it.

I know bout the Christmas sale. We will be playing mostly F2P games until the sale comes along again.

Anything else? We are going round F2P games mostly atm, until the Christmas sale comes along. Gotham City Imposters is crap. While the game is ok, the servers are atrocious. We joined 5 games, and in all 5 we had 1 bar connection.

At my last LAN we found and downloaded a Steam F2P game called Brawl Busters which was a good laugh with 6-8 of us. A bit of mindless violence so may lose it's appeal after a while but for free it is certainly good for a few hours.

I'll also recommend dungeon defenders.

I bought it in the steam sale and its a game that will keep fans of tower defense playing for months.

Best played with people you know or online friends. Playing with randoms can get...abusive shall we say :D

Went through the STEAM F2P Library, and I liked these
District 187
Planetside 2
RaceRoom racing
Bullet Run
Blacklight Retribution
War of battles
APB Reloaded
CrimeCraft Gang Wars
War Inc. Battlezone
Alliance of Valient Arms

I know that some of them are not to be played on low spec machines, but I still listed them :D

Regarding Brawl Busters. Is it like Super MNC? I played Super MNC and I didn't really like it, so I thought that this would be more of the same. (although i did play it alone)

Awaiting any Dungeon Defenders sales ;)
