Right, not sure what's happening here, but everyone else in the house seems to get pretty good speeds (14Mbps down/10Mbps up) even when people are watching films etc. But this PC seems to get stuck at around 2.5Mbps down and randomly jumps between 1Mbps and 10Mbps up. The card in the machine is a Rangebooster N 650 (DWA-547) and the router is the BT home hub 4. Signal is 100% and everyone else is further away, either above or to the side, from the router. Anybody know of any existing problems with this card or combo?

WiFi can be a bit of a black art....can you see any other access points in range? If you can I suspect you are getting some cross talk with them and while your signal is 100% you will experience a drop in speeds.

Have a look at http://www.metageek.net/products/inssider/ as this can help you see whats going on with other people and the channels they use. From what I understand of the BTHH it auto changes channels based on what others it can see, I can imagine this being an issue if you have several BTHH's in range as they will just be chasing each other around the 11 channels.

If you can move into the 5ghz band of N that might help fix the issue to.

Yeah, I read about the BTHH signal survey software and I just assumed they would sit in a 5ghz channel until the survey was finished. And this hub has been in for a while, if it was interference the router would have settled in by now and gone for a relatively quiet channel. The other thing is that it is ONLY this computer that is suffering the low speeds and there are 3 other computers in the house. :(
