I've managed to OC my Q6600 to 2.8 quite happily (59/60C stressed using ORTHOS for over an hour)

I set a fairly low vcore of 1.256 (default on MBO was 1.55) to reduce the temps, is this too low and also will there be a problem using low vcore if everything is stable?

Yes lower vcore = lower temps

For a Quad Core I would run Prime95, length of time is up to you... If its going to fail then it will normally within the first 30 mins or so.. but I have had Prime95 fail after 7 hours... really if it can run Prime95 for a couple of hours its going to be 99% stable for everyday use

What HSF are you using to get those speeds?

Managed to get up to 3.0 Ghz now (still 55/61c stressed) and still with a vcore of 1.256!!!

May go higher, but TBH I'm quite happy with it at 3:)
