any ideas - just wondering mechanics of it

trying to get my HTPC to as low a Vcore as possible -power reasons

Intel 2180

at a given CPU speed - 2.25 gig in this case - CPU undervolted

can prime for ages no problems (small prime) - PC boots fine cold boot - but press reset and it won't boot - any ideas please ?

which mobo. Asus mobos do this sometimes for no apparent reason.

Simple solution, don't shut down, or just put it to sleep instead :)

Asus P5E-VM

good guess :)

sleep tends to be as problematic as reset :( - don't know why - I suppose S3 sleep coming out of is very similar to reset

Asus boards are getting a bit fickle these days :( I have similar problems with x8 multiplier - CPU is fine up to 3 gig - no problems, but up the fsb and go x8 - even at say 2.6 gig - again cold boots fine, but wont come out of sleep and reset gives nothing :( - no post

yup latest bios

its a 1.325Vid Chip (I've bought 3 intels over last 3 years and always been highest vids !)

so under the volts of the VID :( 1.192V according to CPU-Z underload - but it small primes fine !! - thats what I don't understand

do you have speedstep active?

could be its very marginal at some intermittant stage when cpu multi and vid are reduced (as a lower starting vid means lower vid at all fid) which means the extra heat from warm boot hozes it but cold boot just slips past?
