*Low Watts Gurus*: Spec me a Lowest Watts Possible quad T2 tuner htpc?

..would a Bigsy type build but with quad DVB-T2 tuners.. work?

here is the rough proposal:

llano A6-3500 apu
Gigabyte A75N-USB3 mitx
http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/mainboards/display/mini-itx-socket-fm1_4.html#sect0
ARC1-PELY423-C7 (a pcix16 -> 2 pciex8 ribbon riser)
2 x DVB-T2 Receiver - TBS6280
Kingston HyperX Genesis Grey 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz
crucial m4 + WD green 1TB
120W Pico PSU + brick
some kind of case

thanks in advance for any advice out there guys,

Hi,

2 x DVB-T2 Receiver - TBS6280

Do you have those already? There is a similar card which has 2 receiver units on it , for 4 channels in one card , think it is the tbs 6284.
This might save you some hassle with two card above each other, especially since I read somewhere that those cards get pretty hot.

Also, I am not sure about power consumption of those cards, maybe (if you have them already) first measure power consumptions on a regular pc with/without the receivers to check additional power needs?

Hardest thing (I think) is to estimate the actual processing power you need. As you can see in the xbit link, playing a 1090p video shouldn't be any problem, but of you want to somehow process four DVB-T2 HD-streams this might be different. ( but I can't tell, maybe someone else?).
I am looking for something like this myself, either a backend and a frontend server, or preferably (with the low idle power conumption of this setup) something combining the main HTPC with mediaserver. ( I have a dual tuner HD homerun for dvb-T/C as external network tuner).

Thanks for the reply Alex. yeah,

I do have the two duals already in a htpc/server which lives in the living room and serves recordings and anything else to the bedroom atom (asus 1215n netty hooked up to a 22" bedroom tv. The atom runs on nothing, <20W.

The old htpc (core2duo+ discreet gpu) used to suck 80W from the wall on idle so I thought it was time to try and knock that down with some llano.

I put together a llano atx board (F1a75-v pro) plus an a6-3500, those two dual tuners, an m4 ssd and a wd green 1TB and ended up with 57W idle, which is still more than i was hoping for. so thought I would try here for some advice on getting below 40W with quad tuners..even i it meant going itx.. without much luck so far!

I guess I just build what bigsy did and shove a quad in that! hmm, bit expensive to do that now:(

If there is anyone that has done an impressive low watt dual/quad tuner htpc build please post your spec and watt readings in this thread, thanks.

Alex.

Worst case senario for this htpc/server is to be recording upto four DVB-T2 HD-streams simultaneously (minimal cpu) whilst streaming one or two recordings upto the bedrooms over homeplug. (I think it's recommended to have a core and 1GB aside for each terminal.)
