Lowcostholidays has gone bust

No, section 75 does not apply to Paypal transactions.

Pretty sure credit card chargebacks through paypal are pretty commonplace ..

Edit : Am getting confused with chargebacks and section 75. Although it still isnt clear cut- whole thing seems like a legal minefield

I am always surprised that people use a company like Paypal to pay for large purchases, like holidays. Section 75 does not cover paying via intermediaries, which means that you're at the mercy of Paypal's own rules. These are far weaker than claiming via Section 75.

Martin Lewis has a fair bit to say about this on MoneySavingExpert.com.

If you don't want to read the article, here's a snippet.

Martin Lewis said:
Although PayPal appears as the merchant on the cardholder's statement, it cannot be seen as the supplier in a debtor-creditor-supplier agreement under Section 75 because it merely acts as the payment intermediary by transferring the money from the buyer's account to the seller's account. Therefore it breaks that chain to be considered under Section 75.

I use PayPal to pay for low-mid cost things all the time, mainly because I only need my PayPal password rather than my credit card, which is very convenient.

My Granny always told me: "son, don't pay for yo' big-azz shiz with Paypal. Use a credit card - your purchase is properly protected that way"

Seems some others' grandmothers weren't doing their jobs...
