Hi,

I'm sure this isn't a hardware problem, but for some reason the lower case F key won't work (it does very briefly upon start-up). I've tried uninstalling Chrome, but no joy.

What else can I try?

I seem to be able to get it to work by selecting caps lock, and then pressing shift left + f. Strange.

Looks like I sorted it.

I've seen a few recommendations on here for something called AdwCleaner. Well, it seems to have done the trick. :)

Nope: still doing it...

try installing sharpkeys and see what key press (if any) it intercepts when you hit f.
if you safe boot or boot off of a usb does it work then ?

As it's been such a long time since I've done a clean windows reinstall, I decided to do just that. No problems now. :)

I'm not surprised I had teething troubles like that really; towards the end of the last windows 7 install (last Autumn) I elected to upgrade to W10, then subsequently rolled back due to a poor experience after a November update, and finally - later upgraded once again during the summer this year before the free 'window' expired. However, none were fresh, clean installations. Anyway, I'm back to W7 for the present.

I've not heard of sharpkeys. I'll take a look. Thanks.

Might be worth taking the keys off and seeing if there's anything underneath, or trying another keyboard at a push. Anyway I wanted to get to this: if the lower case t and h stop working also, you couldn't say fairer than that (tumbleweed)

I had to be careful when typing out shift in my OP. :D

Mind you, the swear filter would have probably saved me.
