Lower clocks in Windows 7 compared to BIOS?

I've been trying to push past the magic 5ghz for a while, and was getting close to 4.9ghz when i managed to disable all the services in Windows.... after I got that sorted it no longer shows the correct clock speed in CPU-Z, so guessing that the clock speed is dropping between BIOS (where it displays 4.4ghz at the moment which i have had stable) and bootup in Windows somehow, which isn't very helpful for testing stability. I've tried all the different settings in the BIOS (Turbo Boost, C3/C6 etc) but nothing is changing the clock, which is hanging around 3.4ghz.

Any ideas?

First thing to do is to reset your bios to default.

Get your OS sorted if it is in need of repair and then start again.

To get past 4.9GHz to the magical 5GHz mark will require that you enable PLL overrider on your motherboard. UD3 if I read the CPU-z correctly. Make sure your BIOS supports manual engaging of the PLL overrider. As some do not.

Your a man who seems to be in the know ;) im currently using a Gigabyte P67A-UD4-B3 with the F3 BIOS.The latest official Bios for this board is F5 Supporting Touch BIOS and also Intel 22nm CPU support.Have you had any feed back on this F5 BIOS and does it also support adjustable levels of LLC?

Oh and the board is a UD4, I know i have to engage something like that, i've seen it and have got past 5ghz for very short amounts of time without testing for stability, should hopefully be able to continue pushing it up soon enough :D

can't find the windows disk right now... can't be bothered to do it anyway at the moment, got work tomorrow so i'll sort it tomorrow afternoon!

wish there was an easier fix :( :o

Ok it worked... but then i updated to the F8 bios and now it has the same issue again... I mananged to make windows do it without reinstalling though, maybe i should just keep messing with settings like i did before so that it works again :p
