Lower cost 27" WQHD

the samsung s27a750d is on this week only for £420 but if 1080p is not your thing then its no good, but your going to find it hard going to find something for £400 unless you search the second hand market

I would avoid 1080p 27" like the plague. It looks like crap compared to 1440p.

Hazro are about the cheapest for a 27" 1440p right now, but as you say, you'd be taking a risk with one of those.

I'd suggest maybe looking for a refurb/2nd hand Dell, those are usually around £400-450.

I was massively underwhelmed by 1080p on 27 inches. In the end I spent way over budget and bought a dell u2711.

i don't think theres anything due for a while yet from any one in regards to 27 inch monitors. I intend to keep this for many years until a significant advance is made in screen technology.

thanks for the comments... looks like 27 1080p is not the way to go. I need to check the calculator thing that says whether you can differentiate pixels at a given viewing distance - - about 3-4 ft in my case.

Just bought 27.5" Hanns.G for £195 at the rain forest. I was weighing up the pros/cons and decided against spending £500+. The resolution, imo, is fine. The buttons for settings are bad as they take a lot of pressure to depress and they are behind the monitor so are not visible. Also, there is evidence of ghosting when you scroll webpages fast for example, not sure if this is expected at this price point or not but I will get used to it and I'm not interested in gaming.

All in all I am very happy, this monitor will serve my purposes very well. I will save up the cash to get a large monitor with better resolution, something like the 30" dell, in maybe a year or two, until then, I don't think I am missing out on 'that' much, certainly not £300 extra for the 27" dell, spending that much would be more of a high quality treat :)

I have the Hanns G too and its just on its last feet now after 3 years (flashing pixals in lines going down the screen, not extremly noticable though) and i only get ghosting in games but not on web pages, i'm currently after a new monitor too and i just don't think i'll cope going down the 1080p but i'm not rich enough to get a better 27" monitor, so i'm really peeved off atm

I have the HZ281 too. I bought it in May 2010. I am very picky when it comes to my PC gear so I was wary about buying a monitor from a no-name manufacturer. Having used the monitor for almost 2 years now I can say that I am very happy with it.

I use it primarily for gaming and I've never noticed any ghosting. Also I don't see any of the "blocky" text that many people claim to get on 27" 1080p monitors. Perhaps this is because the HZ281 is 1920x1200 instead of 1920x1080.
