I'm unsure if I have to get a z77 motherboard as the processor stated its based on z77 architecture? Plus any other cut back suggestions would be great!

You don't have to have a Z77 board, you can drop down to H61 but will not allow for any overclocking if you drop in a K series cpu in the future which requires a Z77 board.

What is this for exactly? If it's for some light gaming, i5 is overkill, just get an i3.

Put the £50 left over towards a 2GB 7850, or even better just get a trinity build.

Regardless I don't see your logic behind 4gb of ram which us meh for gaming, an i5 which is more than enough for gaming.

If you go with the i3 and Z77 board you can drop an i5 3570k at the end of the year if Haswell brings the price of them down.
