Say games like Elite where you can play it on desktop and vr would lowering desktop resolution make VR have better performance or would it have disadvantages too to quality of head set?.

The resolution of the desktop window for a PC VR game can affect frame rate in some games.

It depends if they are rendering a completely separate 3D window, or just copying the framebuffer before it gets distorted and adjusted for the headset

I think one offender is Star Wars Squadrons, where dropping the resolution and detail level of the desktop window will help VR performance.

If i get apple voucher could i buy VD from the app on i phone on Pico store?. I just dont trust that app with my credit card.

It depends on the game. Some games are badly done and they render the game on the monitor and the Headset, so lowering the desktop resolution of the game increases performance. Subnautica was one of the worst offenders. No Man's Sky used to be like that, not sure if it still is. Elite is fine, lowering the desktop resolution has no effect on performance.

Apparently, It would have no effect on the performance of the VR version, as the two versions are completely separate.

You would think running lower resolution and turning things down on desktop would free some performance from card it self for more juice to head set. But i guess it doesnt work like that.

It's because it's not doing much work just copying the VR screen and dumping it into a window.

If the game is actually rendering a second 3D viewport then it will make a difference. No Man's Sky used to do this and setting your desktop resolution to 640x480 increased VR performance until they fixed it.
