Lower temps after overclock

I decided to have a go at overclocking my Pentium D 950. I've done some reading up on it but decided to try and use the Asus Ai Booster program that came with my Asus mobo instead of using the bios. Just seemed easier to use as I'm a beginner. I managed to overclock it 15% (500mhz), any higher and it became unstable.

The thing thats puzzling me though is I was expecting an increase in the temps but they actually got lower  Both my idle and loaded temps are less than when the cpu was running slower. I've had a search on google but can't seem to find an answer......can anyone tell me why this happening?

Cheers

Here are a few pics:

Are you on the stock cooler? If so I'd be temped to say it was throttling, but your speedo says otherwise.

It could just be the program/monitor chip being rubbish as they tend to be a bit rubbish really.

It's not the stock cooler no....I'm using a gigabyte cpu cooler. I've not done any of this before so wasn't sure if the monitor chips did give an accurate reading. I also checked it with the pc probe 2 program and it gave the same results also. Are they any better tools/programs for getting an accurate temp?
