Lower Temps = More unstable!?

After sucessfully OC'ing my E6600 to 3.2Ghz last week and stress testing with Orthos for 12hrs i figured my system was stable. It has run without a hitch for over a week but i was always a bit unhappy with the temps.

Idle @ 34C
Load @ 57-8C

I decided to crank up my case fans as im currently running them on low in an antec900. Ramped them all up to high and my temps dropped by around 3-4C. I can deal with the noise as i only stress my system when gaming and will usually be using headphones.

But the system now hangs at random points and will fall over after about 14 mins of orthos. Nothing else chaged only the case fan speed to lower temps slightly.

Surely something amis or my overclock wasnt as stable as i thought. But seems a little weird to me?

Any ideas?

random thought here - power supply what size/brand is it and how many fans

I'm assuming the fans are increased by a type of dial meaning max would be 12v min 5/7v.

Its possible the upping of the fans has made the psu overloaded on maybe the 12v rail.

Unlikely. Im running a Corsair HX 620W. Have 4 fans running off one 12v rail and nothing else off that one. Should be more than capable no?

slow them back down and see if you get stability back? If you do, get a new psu :)

Richie.

New PSU  I only bought it 2 months ago and was told it would run pretty much anything i can throw at it. Cant believe 4 fans on high are making it fall over >.<

its not just the fans though, you have everything else running on the psu too. Whats the basic run down of your spec.

But as said by others if you slow the fans down and the system becomes stable then there is an issue with load like I said.

Spec as follows.

e6600 @ 3.2
ACF7 Pro
Asus p5n32-e plus
8800 gts640
2Gb GeIl PC6400c4 ULL
Samsung Spinpoint 320G
Samsung SATA DVDRW
Antec900
Corsair HX 620W

Was told that this PSU would run my setup with ease. I have the 4 fans running off one rail and the HDD/DVD off another. Swapped the rails round and its the same deal. Fans on high give me lower temps but instability. Fans on low give me higher temps but orthos will for 12 hrs no problem...

Setting all your fans to high may of dropped your PSU output voltage a little bit...which could then mean your CPU is getting a little lower voltage to it then before...

have you tried splitting the fans up so they go onto different cables ?

have you tried running it as a miniumum system with the fans on full, might be a slight fault with the psu, then put piece by piece back onto the power.
