first question i will ask is my amd athlon 3800+ x2 running too warm at 69oc.. and my mobo is running at 400oc does this seem about rite the the system spec listed in my sig.

i currently have 2 80mm fans one front and one back and a system exhaust blower thingy aswell i have a spare vent on the side for installing a 120mm fan which is placed directly over the heatsink would this direct air coming in help cool the heatsink and therefore the fan. also i wanted to no if upgrading my stock cooler would help aswell.

i was looking at the arctic cooler 64 pro is this the best heatsink available for 15-20 (well even cheaper now its on this week only).

or can u giys suggest any improvements to lower my mobo and cpu temrature.
also what are best quiet hgh performance fans available.

69C for an X2 3800 is simply too hot, do you have an OC on that too? If not i would be concerned if i were you, then again it depands on the reliabilty of the resources your getting your temps from. You shouldn't be going over 60C at full load, not sure if your temp stated is idle but i presume not, if i were you i would reseat your CPU cooler, the stock cooler should be fine if not overclocking.

I'm guessing also that you mean your mobo is at 40C, not 400C, if it is 400C than your program is reporting the temps wrong lol. 40C mobo is not overly bad this weather, mine this evening is sat at 32C now.

You case cooling sounds adequate, just make sure your airflow is correct.

The Arctic is a good cooler, cheap and effective. Installing a 120mm fan should be helpful as well. Those system exhaust blower things on the other hand tend to be pretty ineffective... you might find that once you've installed the 120mm you can safely remove the blower and cut down on some noise.

cheers guys im starting to worry now because the spu is at 69oc when i turn the system on this is not even when the system is booted a cause for concern me thinks

Could be your motherboards bios reading the temperatures wrong.

Try updating that. To be honest I'm inclined to think this because at 69deg I wouldn't have thought you wouldn't have a cpu anymore.

ive updated the bios ye and it still reads this surely this cannot be rite it has not been o/c at all

you reckon an X2 wouldn't handle 69c for any length of time?
My m8's dad complained of his Celeron 2.93 freezing all the time. I ran speedfan to check voltages, temps etc and on idle the CPU was 91c!!!
Opened up the case and the heatsink was just full of dust and gunk. Took it off and hoovered it all out, stuck an old pair of tights over the side fan on his case, and reapplied the heatsink with some AS5 now it idles around 35 and only hits 45 at full load, thats with stock cooler and running at 3.5 now too.

Doesn't sound it to me... some mobo's just have dodgey sensors, I really don't think you'd actually be able to run a amd64 series at 69 degrees....

if you have some spare thermal compound it'd be worth just taking the heatsink off, cleaning it and the chip then reseating it in some fresh new stuff.

Yes that's fine, but it's a celeron. I was talking about X2's which are a completely different kettle of fish.

if i was to buy the arctic cooling 64 freezer pro do u reko it would improve the temp of the cpu

I think they shut down at 65c (correct me if I'm wrong), so your mobo temp sensors are inaccurate if that's the case :)

just downloaded speed fan and it says the cpu temp is at -129c.soo i dont know what to do is there actually a a way to find the correct temp of my cpu

Sensor sounds ****** mate. get a thermal probe from somewhere, that'll do the job. I have no idea where you can get one, someone else can point you there.

speedfan doesnt seem to work on many boards ive tried, on one it said was at 129c.

Are you actually getting any problems though that you think are caused by heat?
