Hey

I managed to source a set of Eibach Lowering springs for my Mazda3.
25mm drop all round.

Just now i tried 2 garages to see how much its to get them fitted as i don't fancy doing it myself.

Both came back and said " What about shocks? You cant just lower your car without new shocks as your springs will fall out... "

I was like... EH? never heard that before, but they were adamant.

I pretty much know i don't need new shocks as they are only 37k old.

Whats the reason behind these two telling me i do? Money grabbing?

Go elsewhere...

You don't need new shocks for Eibach Lowering springs that are specifically designed for use with the standard shocks.

Did you explain that you want just the springs changing to these lowering ones?

Eibach design their springs to work within the upper limits of the stock shocks and they will fit on them absolutely fine, all you might need to do is cut the stock bump stops down a little, but normally Eibach supply new shorter bump stops.

In a perfect world ones matches uprated springs with uprated shocks as the shock then controls the spring better, but Eibach are normally pretty good and will work fine with stock shocks.

Just got another garage, it will take anywhere between 4-6hr, what is crucial is that you get a full alignment done when all fitted as your negative cambers will increase and your toe settings will be out.

How much are you going to spend on this Mazda!? Surely you should have just bought a decent MPS from the start?

Not much more ;) And no i don't want an MPS.

Thanks Gibbo. Perfect info there. Much appreciated.

Pulls like a train and does 60mpg on a run, proper wicked.

I'd be more inclined to sort out the bodge paint job myself

It sounds like you do, you've already had it remapped, removed the DPF and tried to fit MPS parts

More power like an MPS? Check (Not as much power.. more torque and far better Economy)
Make it look like an MPS? Check (no... Only some alloys and a spoiler, If i was going all out i would have fitted MPS bonnet, bumper and side skirts oh and the rear bumper with a bodged twin exhaust)
Make it handle like an MPS? Lowering springs so Check (What? The springs were an option from mazda... Hey i can even buy them from Mazda as an option too!)

I think i have the right to be confused here not you....
