I'm running a 2500K @ 4.4GHz and a Zotac 1070 Amp Extreme (a non-blower card) in an Antec P183.
The system is silent at idle, but the GPU temperature is a bit on the high side for this model (about 45c) and the CPU temperature has crept up over the years to above 40c. The full load temperatures are acceptable (65-70c for both CPU and GPU) with the case fans working hard and making a lot of noise. I'd like to reduce both the noise levels at load and the temperatures at idle.
The CPU cooler is a Corsair A50 with an Akasa Viper 120mm (link) and the two case fans are Akasa Apache 120mm (link). The motherboard is an Asus P8P67 and its fan control feature can only manage two case fans.
The case fans are in positions 2 and 7 (upper) on this graphic from the manufacturer:
I have removed the upper hard drive cage at 7 to fit the 1070 and the fan is installed at the very front. The space where the hard drive cage used to sit is almost entirely clear, save for the end of the 1070 poking into it.
The lower chamber has a single HDD and the PSU. I have not installed a fan at the front as there are flaps closing this part of the case off from the motherboard area and I don't think it would be contributing much in the way of heat. The HDD temp is usually about 30c.
There is a vent at the top of the case (next to 2), but installing a fan there would be a very tight fit with the CPU cooler, so I sealed it with duct tape to reduce the noise. The optical drive chamber (at 6) cannot be removed and any fan installation there would require some messing about.
If you had this set up, which fans would you install and where? I'm prepared to replace any of them and/or install additional fans.
Thanks.
