Im trying to reach 3Ghz with my E4500 on stock cooling. I am at 2.86 without a hitch, but any higher needs a voltage bump, which makes it a little too toasty for my tastes. Will lowering the multiplier to 10 help at all? I read that higher multipliers create more heat.

More volts creates more heat. I never noticed any difference when i lowered my E6600 from a 9 to an 8 multi (Mobo had a huuge hole in the FSB). Give it a go. Knock the multi down, and bump the FSB to keep the same speed then start from there.

Windows stable at 3ghz but not Orthos stable-fails after 2 seconds. Grr. I will ty upping the voltage and see how hot it gets.

EDIT: No change, still a little too hot at higher volts. Ah well, guess I will stick with 2.8!
