why bother making the retail version only £2.50 more expensive than the OEM?
who'd go for an OEM when they can get the retail for the same price?

As i am one of the few still on a C2D its hard not to reach for the VISA card at that price.

Put it this way.... if you don't do encoding, and you have overclocked yur C2D, you will not notice a huge diff.

I went from e4300 @3GHs, to q6600 for few months, now back on e4300.... and while it did make certain things a little snappier, I'd hardly say its worth the price cost at this point in time - unless you simply go money to splash, and £140 means nothing... then go ahead :)

My dualcore e8500 arrived today ;)

Am sticking with daulcore for now....
as just about all the software i use & games i play uses only one or two cores....
and dualcore cpu's use much less power ,normally overclock better, & give higher FPS ingames that don't support quad core...

ZOMG, several months, maybe even a year after they are available, when the new chips are coming in and no one wants to buy older chips you finally get the lowest price in the uk :o

Anyone fail to be enthusiastic that everything OCUK get lowest guarenteed prices on is old stuff they can't shift stock of that well. like the 8800gtx, lowest price, only over a year after it was released(well over) and when no one buys them anymore, whoopdedoo.

How about getting the lowest price on the NEWEST stuff that everybody really WANTS.

But a lot of people do still want the Q6600 due to the overclocks and also the multiplyer...

majority of buyers have been and gone, and if they had a brain, bought elsewhere. Very few if any of ocuk deals are on the best kit when its new, its cheaper to get most stuff most other places. Its an enthusiast forum and supposedly, with the latest overclocked chip deals the shop too. Most of us don't need a quad core, we get it because its new. Being that the shops core base is enthusiasts, surely deals on the new stuff WHEN ITS NEW, would go down a lot better than for instance, the massively critised deals on the overclocked Q6600, not only because they had been out SO long that we all KNOW they will do those overclocks, they charged more for them, rather than do a cheapest in uk deal.

Frankly loyalty is one thing, but you can rma 90% of stuff direct if you want, and 99% of stuff really doesn't fail anyway. At the end of the day price competitiveness dictates loyalty. If OCUK were genuinely cheaper for most stuff I'd buy from them, but other places are cheaper on so much stuff now, and often a lot cheaper. My TT armour case was £40 cheaper than OCUK, ocuk were 40% more, come on.
