I was out walking with my partner last night and saw a 50p coin on the ground. I mentioned it to her and we ignored it and walked on. Got me thinking, what would be the lowest value coin you would pick up? I think maybe a 2 pound coin. Even then I would probably leave it.

Check out Billy Big Bucks over here.

I sometimes bend over even when there's no money to pick up*

When I was a kid, my grandad made a bit of a game of it - we'd keep an eye out for coins and lighters in particular and bring them back home with us. The lighters just so we could make them spark.

But it's always stuck with me - even a penny I'd pick up. Then they get stuck in a jar that I never get round to dealing with. I figure at some point the kids might be motivated to take them to a bank.

I recently cashed in a money box full of 1p, 2p and 5p pieces at one of those 'Coinstar' machines at the supermarket.

Made about £6, and tbh it's probably the last time I'll ever do it, given us moving ever closer to a society with no physical money.

Years ago I'd cash it in about twice per year. This time around it took about five years to fill.

I'll keep the moneybox as an ornament though.

I'd pick up anything as long as I can lick it before I spend it.

50p is a good looking coin.
