At the gliding club we have a very old DOS-based accounting system. We are going to move to Sage but that's not a 2-second job.
However the hardware needs replacing ASAP. I've found the software works fine in XP Mode except that that doesn't support picking up LPT1, so we can't use 'net use lpt1 \\pc\printer' to get stuff to go to the right printer. It vanishes into the ether...
I've found some software PrintFil which seems to cover what we need, now I'm looking for suggestions for alternatives.
And of course if anyone out there knows how to get the XP Mode to include LPT1 that would be great! However after spending hours with Google I'm reaching the conclusion that the people telling us that 'net use' will do the trick failed to be clear that they were using the older version of the software, not the current one that one uses with W7. I tried the older one BTW, and it won't install on W7.
