LR5 missing profile

Ok so, for the first time, I have a lens which is new enough to have no profile available in LR5. I'm using 5.7.1 which is the latest version.

Can I remedy this without upgrading to LR6? Can the profile be added separately or ACR updated?

I've also seen talk of in-camera profiles, which presumably means using Canon's software to add new profiles to the camera. I presume that, as I'm not using any of the in-camera corrections like peripheral illumination, this is unnecessary?

Yeah it seems the only way, other than upgrading, is to convert to DNG, which I don't want to do.

I've upgraded now anyway and the profile is there :)

Why would you have needed to convert anything?

Download profile if there was one and use in Lightroom as usual. You needn't have used the separate convertor program which requires jpeg, tif or dng files.

From what I can tell, that utility allows users to create their own profiles and upload them for others to download and use.

The ones supplied by Adobe as part of Camera Raw or Lightroom can't be downloaded separately and are supplied with updates to the relevant programmes.

It's sorted now either way.
