Ok,

I'm having some issues with this process. It seems to be making my PC really sluggish and slow. I've recently installed *** new OFFICE 2007 beta and also Windows live messenger beta.

When I boot up and every now and then, my PC becomes virtually unusable becuase in task manager, this process is taking up all the resources.

now, i've googled the service, and it is legitimete, but i dunno what to do, does anyone else have any ideas?

Win XP Pro SP2 btw

thanks

Greg

We had this problem when we first installed XP Pro on one of our old boxes at work - it just went nuts using all the resources. We did nothing to it and it seemed to sort itself out after a while.

How long ago was it you installed office?

Is there any updates you are missing?

Confirm the spelling of the process that is causing the problems !

lsass.exe & Lsass.exe & Isass.exe & isass.exe

l L I i

2 different letters 4 different looks.

Microsoft use a lowercase L in it's process name, it looks very much like an I that is used in some virus/trojans out there !

I had this issue on my sisters box after a clean install - seemed to popup when we installed Norton Antivirus (we already had Office XP installed by then). Couldnt find anything useful on the net, since it wasnt a dupe and a necessary service.

In the end I had to do a reinstall as it was just slowing things down too much, worked a treat - must have been a dud install or something...

ps3ud0
