Now that ive got the attention of you Intelligent drumb and bass listeners, can you recommend any other artists similar to LTJ? Im only interested in this perticular style of drumb and bass though, not the out and out d&b crap.

I loved Bukem back in 96-2000, I can't think of much off the top of my head but one CD you should try and get is Journeys by DJ - ColdCut, lots of breakbeats heavily chopped up, I can put together a quick sampler if you want.

Damn I was gonna be the first person with a useful reply! Journeys By DJ is a wicked album though, definitely check it out.

I'd recommend:

Shy FX
High Contrast
Bailey
Dom & Roland
Fabio
Klute
Photek
Peshay
Source Direct
Kruder & Dorfmeister

If you're looking for Intelligent drum and bass (ie. fairly melodic chilled out stuff) then most of the above isn't that suited...

I would say look for Progression Sessions CDs mixed by LTJ or Blame, they're pretty good. Also kruder and dorfmeister (check out their DJ Kicks CD) can make interesting listening but they often play slower stuff.

Adam F - Circles is a nice album

I thought they settled on progressive D&B hence Progression sessions? Though i heard some Bristollians calling it "fluid D&B" in about 2000. Loving the dance over-pidgeon holeing anyway.

It's probably the best one outside of the Cooking / Looking Good, camp. Quite weird to think of his sound now considering that album.

Anyhoo. If you want stuff similar to Bukem just look through his albums and pick out the artists as they all release similar stuff. DRS, PFM, Blame and Blu Mar Ten to name a few. PFM - Western + LTJ Bukem - Horizons are prob my favs.

Try 4hero (ish), A Guy Called Gerald (again ish), Adam F (as mentioned), Big Bud, Blame, Lamb, Nookie, Omni Trio, Photek. I'd also like to recommend the Points in Time series which were the unmixed forerunners of Progression Sessions, and often somewhat better. I used to be quite the Bukem fan many years ago - saw him a number of times live :)
