LTO3 Barcode Labels

Hi Chaps,

Its probably a bit of a random request.

Does any one know of any good software to generate barcodes for LTO3 tapes?

Also where to get the labels from?

As i am looking to saving costs as at the mo, £30 a sheet is a bit steep.

Make your own, get hold of Code39 font, and create them in Word, job done.

Is there no special software for generating the barcodes? or templates?

There is, but it would be more expensive I guess,

what information are you looking to put in the barcode?

Its for a Overland Neo Libary to barcode the tapes.

So a example would be.

WKYXXXL3 XXX = Number - These get stuck on the LTO3 tapes.

I need the software thats able to generate the correct barcode for the label.

I see now, there are software programs out there, a quick google for "backup tape LTO barcode software" brings back a few downloadable results..

How about this, it will generate the labels you require into a PDF, you just have to print them.

I've used it and it works, but do test them in your library first, self printed labels can't always be read reliably.

Our offsite storage company generate ours when we purchase the tapes, but occasionally we loose a few label.

We just colour print replacements on a A4 sticky label, cut out and stick onto a piece of thin card. Never had any problems reading the labels.

I've just tryed that very same thing.

We recently spent teh £30 on them, and they work flawlessly, you get loads, they are also colour and number coded so u can have sets.

£30 is nothing when you've just spent £2k on a back up device.

I got a quote from Anix for 20 quid a sheet (20 labels on one sheet) + 10 postage..... LOL yea right!
