I've been reading into various techniques regarding lucid dreaming, and how to achieve that state of mind. It is something that I would like to be able to do, and from my reading anyone can do it.

Has anyone here had any lucid dreams, and if so could you share your experience?

For anyone who doesnt know what a lucid dream is, it is where you are aware that you are dreaming and consciously able to take controll.

Discuss.

I've had a few but its never been as lucid as some seem to get, theres a good technique i read on a forum, in the morning as soon as you wake up, try not to move and start imagining something really familiar like your house, garden, street etc and walk around while being observant of all your imagined senses, apparently you enter a lucid dream within a minute or so, most who try have some success!

I'v only managed to do this once. It happened after i had had a nightmare and woken myself up in the night, usually when this happens i try to stay awake for a couple of mins until i'v forgotten the dream i was having but this time i went back to sleep into the same dream but because i had woken up i knew i was dreaming.

It seemed to get harder and harder to stay in control of the dream, i kept forgetting that i could control it and getting "lost" in it like a book or film.

Loads of times when I was a student. you need to be half awake, half asleep. So you can only do it when you have a lie in and don't have to get up.

I've done it a fair few times i think when ive been woken up unnecessarily in the morning and gone straight back to "sleep"

If i don't have to be in work and nothing wakes me up i can just lie in bed for hours lucid dreaming, it is definitely easier in the morning, i have never managed to do it at night as i just fall asleep (and i can't remember any of my dreams)

It's happened to me a few times, but never induced, always random.

Wish I could control them, they can't half be fun ;).

I've had one proper lucid dream that went as follows -

I was in New York for some reason & i was trying to get a picture of the empire state building on my mobile phone down the gap between two other buildings, then i remember thinking to myself "Hang on a minute, what am i doing in new york?, This aint real!"

Can remember looking around & being amazed at how much detail there was to everything, but the sky looked strange and everything was too clean, i decided to have a wander & see what i could find so i ran down an alleyway, past some guy in a suit walking the opposite way with a breifcase, the alleyway ended with a drop of about 20feet onto a big outdoor concrete square that looked like a massive clothes shop but outside. I jumped straight off the wall & ran over to someone & tried to talk to them but woke up straight away.

Only one I can remember having was one where I could jump as high as I wanted, over buildings and rivers. Felt so real. I'd just jump past people and over a building.

Im good at lucid dreams , i always do everything i want , and if i find the dream boring or its taking a turn for the worst i can just wake my self up. The Dream version of me just says " tut this is boring" and then i wake my self up , go back to sleep and make a new dream its pretty cool.

I have this quite often after i wake up, and sort of snooze back off. Sort of able to think about waking up as well. Like, i'll think, Its nearly time for work wake up, then i do. Quite a strange sensation really.

Yeah have them all the time ,normally its when I wake up and don't like the way the dream went so I drift back into it and then I can do what I like ,like beat this huge bloke up because I now have a baseball bat or I'm just much stronger than when I did not know I was dreaming .

You can only do it in the mornings when having a lie in its really like directing your own movie with you playing the main part ,my latest lucid dream ,I broke into the neighbours house at night and put them out of there misery :D

I've always been able to do it ,thought I would grow out of it but apparently not :o

This happens to me pretty much every day (didnt realise it was a lucid dream till now)

Usually i get what feels like an hour or so before i wake up, but sometimes it can feel like half a day dreampt up (freaky stuff meeting people i havnt seen for years in dreams that feel pretty real).

I think the most comical one was having a lucid dream of sex and waking up with my confused girl friend to why i was so interested in sex whilst asleep next to her :s

I think its enduced by a variety things stemming from the day. It doesnt happen as much if i do a lot of exercise (a lot being something like a 20 mile run so i pretty much pass out). Alcohol makes it loads worse (got wrecked last friday and dreamt my NI flat mates from last year were over here in MK and got so confused as to what to do with them in MK). Other things that affect it is the tempreture, so with the hot wether thats increased it abit, allong with the amount of sugar and cafeen from the day (ie if i have some when im hungry instead of a propper meal).

I personally hate it and generally feel quite motion sick when it happens which is odd :s

I have lucid dreams a lot but i put that down to being on Prozac. Try eating some cheese before bed if you really want to experience it.

Yep. Had one last night strangley...AND THIS IS THE COMPLETE TRUTH!

I was in a park taking photos or random stuff when I *knew* an evil version or myself was looking for me so I ran away and layed down in a bush.

He walked past and I thought "phew im safe...but if he comes back im going to set him on fire!"

He walked back infront of me and looked at me so...

I SHOUTED "FIRE!!" he set alight and I woke up.

I like to think I knew I was dreaming and could make fire with my mind.

I've had quite a few lucid dreams ... I always remember a lot of detail about them. I usually realise it when I read text look away and look back, it changes. They've been quite crazy, not had one or even been able to recall anything for awhile though.

I believe vitimin B6 helps. I wish my recall was better though, I remember once remembering about 4-5 (hard to tell 'cuz the way they gap) dreams at once, most were lucid too.

Here is part of one I remember:

(dream) I killed some terriost guy who had a gun (it was a blank firing one) and wanted to kill me he was driving a van and I was in it too, I didn't know his intentions but when I did I punched him, he fired it at the windscreen but no damage, we got out and I don't know where he went, then I saw the number plate, it felt werid so I reread it and the number changed, (lucid on) this all happened near my street so I walked on my road and I remember Jason from Friday the 13th ran after me and I killed him 3 times then ran away and I could jump real high, like when you set the mavity low on a game.

I remember being at Boots the Pharmacy and they sold magic mushrooms in these test tubes. I don't remember anything more than this and I only remember a small amount of the next.

These were kinda gapped as they changed from one place to another, I think it's safe to assume they might of been seperate.

(real life) That night I got and read reviews of Friday the 13th, but never watched it I have now though. I had a thing about blank firing pistols too, I really wanted one - still do. I was excited about getting some shrooms too, I seem to have a lot of dreams about them.

Recently I can't remember **** all.
