Lucid Hydra multi-GPU... what went wrong?

Having recently read some reviews on the new MSI P67 Marshall that's out (all bells and whistles, E-atx with capacitors rolled on the thighs of Philipino virgins etc etc), I noticed that MSI include The Hydra multi GPU chip on some of their upper end boards. It seems to get a lot of hate from reviewers, despite it's promise of being able to use 2+ different GPUs at once. What happened to it?

Problem is Lucid are extremely slow supporting new titles, the promised performance often isn't there, or just can't match cf/SLI, or take so long to come through that no ones playing the game by the time they do and with mis-matched GPUs theres often noticeable compositing issues even with the final profiles.
