Lumie Bodyclocks

I've got a relatively mild form of SAD and the only thing that wakes me up reliably is the Bodyclock Advanced. Well worth the £100.

However don't underestimate the value of a good, early night. If you're buring the candle at both ends it won't help much!

They are very good tho, I want one. I've slept at someone's house who had one, got me up nice and early even though I'd had a late night ;)

For that money, I'd want it to wake you up with sexual favours and breakfast in bed.

I had one, my thoughts

1) its very cheap and plastic
2) its very flimsy (mine has broken after 6 months use)
3) waking up with a light shining in your eyes is far from pleasant
4) it didn't seem to help me wake up "more refreshed" or "naturally" at all
5) a cheaper alternative is a desk lamp on a timer :p

However if, like me, you suffer from SAD, then it is money well spent.

I feel much refreshed waking up to a simulated dawn, rather than a beeping alarm in a darkened room. Yes, it seems a lot of money, but it's been one of the best things I have bought.

You could say sleep with the curtains open, however that doesn't help much in midwinter in Scotland when it is still pitch black outside!

I have something very similar to this:

http://www.britebox.co.uk/dawn2dusk.php

Go to the bottom of the page and its a little light switch. Replace your normal light switch in your bedroom with this one and you can use it to simulate dusk. I have 4 spotlights hooked up to this and they all point at my bed, so in the morning, instead of an alarm clock I use this to wake me up.

Take note though, that this thing shouldnt be used as your main lighting, it should only be used as your alarm system. It has a max load of 200w, so 4 spotlights, using 50w bulbs is the maximum. You should have another light fitting connected to a different switch for ordinary day to day use.

I had this installed when my house flat was rewired.

The key is to never sleep.

Ever since I started work and couldn't afford to be late, I haven't gone to bed.

*twitch*

Managed to get a bit of a result on this tonight...
I was browsing Boots in meadowhall only to find it reduced to £50 down from £100.
£50 is much more bearable to live with for an alarm clock!
