Lumix DMC-FZ18 - good starting camera?

I've just bought one of these cameras. Bit of an impulse buy but really wanted to upgrade from my little compact which I've found is limited for certain things - iffy low lighting and rubbish photos at the slightest distance.

I've run a search and found some comments on the camera and would like any info/help anyone has to offer.

well info on the camera is a bit late now - but all in all it is regarded as a decent camera.

Enjoy/practise and post some images that you have taken and we will provide feedback.
